The SIGTAS presentation to the IT staff from the provinces was held on Wednesday 29th of July 2009 at 11am at Khayber Hall at the Ministry of Finance. There were about 40 attendees. This presentation was done as part of the IT workshop organised by the Information Communication & Technology (ICT) department in the Ministry of Finance. I presented and Saifullah Paktin translated. The presentation covered questions such as "What is SIGTAS?", "Who Developed it", "Who it's Funded By", "Countries of Implementation", "Implementation Sites", "Implementation Schedule" and "SIGTAS Team Members", the IT staff were then shown the Senegalise version of SIGTAS.
Questions and comments raised by members of the IT staff from the provinces included:
Will SIGTAS be able to capture tax registration of taxpayers currently not in the TIN database? What is the TIN database i have heard about? We don't have internet connection in some provinces, so how will we connect?
The Senegal version of SIGTAS is not very practical for Afghanistan.Do any other European countries or the USA use SIGTAS?Who will train managers and staff in the provinces in the use of SIGTAS? It was an excellent opportunity to inform the IT staff from the provinces the new system that was 'coming their way'.
